Experience Waterdown Optometric Clinic
For almost 30 years, the Waterdown Optometric Clinic has been providing Flamborough residents with “Quality Family Eye Care You Can Trust“. Their recently renovated and expanded facility offers patients a tranquil environment, while state-of the-art equipment helps ensure that they are receiving the very best care available.
Dr. Thornborrow established the practice in the heart of Waterdown in 1980. In 1991 fellow optometrist, Dr. Marnie Richmond, joined the practice. They recently made a further addition to their team, welcoming Dr. Lyndsey Kay. With an emphasis on eye health, the doctors at Waterdown Optometric Clinic co-manage patients who are treated for such conditions
Dr. Derrick Thornborrow O.D.
Dr. Derrick Thornborrow received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo in 1980. He then worked part-time as a clinical instructor at the University while establishing the Waterdown Optometric Clinic. Laser Refractive Surgery and contact lens therapy hold a special interest for Dr. Thornborrow and is an associate of TLC Laser Eye Centers.
Dr. Thornborrow is Board Certified in the Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease and is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists (OAO), the Canadian Association of Optometrists (CAO) and the Hamilton and District Society of Optometrists. Dr. Marnie Richmond B.Sc.,O.D.
Dr. Marnie Richmond received her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Waterloo in 1991. Upon graduation, she joined Dr. Thornborrow's practice. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Guelph. Dr. Richmond finds working with a variety of people to be a stimulating aspect of her work. She is particularly interested in her young and senior patients. Dr. Richmond has been trained in all aspects of Laser co-management and has a growing number of Laser patients. Dr. Richmond is a lifelong resident of Flamborough and is active in the community.
Dr. Lyndsey Kay M.Sc.,O.D.
Dr. Kay was born and raised in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. She received her Honors Bachelor of Science at McMaster University in Hamilton and continued her studies at University of Toronto where she completed her Master’s of Science in Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology before deciding to pursue a career in Optometry. She then received her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Waterloo and throughout her academic studies was recognized on the Dean’s Honors List. Past experience includes a four-month externship at an ophthalmologic center in Birmingham, Alabama, specializing in diseases of the retina, glaucoma, pre- and post-operative cataract, refractive surgery as well as ocu
